Long-term Hemodialysis Catheters
Palindrome™ Precision – Long-term Hemodialysis Catheter Family
From unique design to innovative coatings and precision tip technology, the Palindrome™ Precision series of chronic hemodialysis catheters reflects Medtronic’s history of product performance and innovation.
The Palindrome™ and Palindrome Precision™ catheters are high-flow 14.5Fr hemodialysis catheters with a unique symmetrical tip design. The internal Double-D™ lumen configuration of the Palindrome™ catheters maximizes inner diameter and flow. The high-tensile-strength Carbothane™ material makes the Palindrome™ flexible while providing enhanced resistance to catheter kinking.
Palindrome™ Precision – Symmetrical Dialysis Catheter
Palindrome™ Precision is the new and improved version of the successful Palindrome™ catheter.
The renewed Palindrome™ Precision symmetrical dialysis catheter features a unique symmetrical tip and laser-cut side holes. These minimize the likelihood of blood recirculation and local occlusion while reducing thrombus formation. The precision tip also incorporates a unique tungsten ring, which facilitates visualization and accurate positioning of the catheter tip.
Studies show that dialysis line reversal is often necessary. With most catheters, reversing the lines increases blood recirculation. Thanks to their unique tip design, Palindrome™ catheters reduce blood recirculation (<1%), keeping it within NKF KDOQI guidelines (<5%) even when used in reverse flow.
How does Palindrome™ Precision meet the demands of long-term hemodialysis with its features?
-
Redesigned side holes improve flow and further reduce thrombus formation.
-
A unique tungsten ring is embedded in the precision tip. Misplacement of the catheter tip accounts for 20% of premature catheter removals. The tungsten ring simplifies catheter placement and tip positioning, helping minimize complications and premature removals caused by malposition.
-
Improved cuffs promote tissue ingrowth into the cuff and allow the catheter to anchor more securely than before.
Palindrome™ Precision H – Heparin-coated Symmetrical Dialysis Catheter
Palindrome™ Precision H is a heparin-coated symmetrical dialysis catheter that reduces the likelihood of thrombus formation and prevents the progression of a fibrin sheath with its non-eluting heparin coating.
